Kern County Court Update

February

Feb. 2: Joseph McCoy, 30, of Lake Isabella and his mother, Darlene Green, 55, of Weldon are scheduled to be sentenced on the charge of elder neglect and causing harm or death to an elderly person. McCoy pled no contest to the charge of elder neglect and causing death to an elderly person. Green pled no contest to the charge of elder neglect in connection to the death of Green’s mother, Margaret Gray. Gray passed away on April 1 due to her deteriorated condition while McCoy served as her caregiver.

Feb. 3: A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Frank Martineau in connection to the charge of being a registered sex offender on school property in August.

Feb. 6: William Sullivan, 40 of Southlake will appear in court for a pre-preliminary hearing in connection to the July shooting death of his wife, Michelle at their home in Southlake. According to court records, Sullivan called 911 saying that he had just shot his wife and for the authorities to come to their home on Radiant Way. Sullivan had pled ‘not guilty’ to the charge of 1st degree murder. He is being held on $2 million bail at the Lerdo pre-trial facility.

Feb. 17: A readiness hearing is scheduled for Kenneth Ramay, 51, of Weldon. Ramay is charged with 11 counts of child abuse/ molestation in connection to the alleged repeated abuse to a child under the age of 14.

Feb. 27: Contingent on the outcome of the readiness hearing for Kenneth Ramay on Feb. 17, a jury trial has been scheduled for Ramay to answer to the 11 counts of child abuse/molestation he is facing.

March

March 2: A readiness hearing will be held for Dennis Simmons and Clifton Blake of Weldon in connection to the August murder of Thomas Hill of Ridgecrest. Hill’s remains were discovered in a two-foot deep grave at the Hanning Flat Campground. Evidence led homicide detectives to Simmons’ house in Weldon where both he and Blake were arrested and charged with first degree murder. Evidence found inside the mobile home and in the yard of the residence allegedly implicated Simmons and Blake for Thomas’ death.

March 2: Dr. Pormir will appear in Superior Civil Court on charges that he and members of his staff at the Kern Valley Hospital’s Skilled Nursing Facility contributed to the deaths of patients. Pormir and his co-defendants were arrested Feb. 18, 2009.

Through neglect and over medication. They are charged with administering psychotropic drugs to patients who did not require them in order to be able to better control the patients.

March 12: Contingent on the outcome of the readiness hearing for Dennis Simmons and Clifton Blake on Mar. 2, a jury trial has been scheduled for the pair accused of the murder of Thomas Hill on Aug.

March 12: Contingent on the outcome of the readiness hearing in Superior Civil court for Dr. Pormir, a jury trial has been scheduled for the accusations of neglect and administering the wrong and unnecessary drugs to patients in the KVHD Skilled Nursing Facility.

    " Sad to hear that Sullivan is still in prison. I do not know him, nor did I know his wife, but in the following the story I've come to feel for the guy. Stupid, maybe. but not guilty... "
