On the afternoon of Feb. 3, local restaurant owner, Terry Anderson, scored an extremely rare Albatross aka, a double eagle, on the 13th hole at the Kern Valley Golf Course.

Anderson teed off on the 13th-par five with a driver, then hit a 3-wood that found the bottom of the cup (hole). An albatross is far more rare than a hole-in-one and is also rarely seen from professional golfers. Locals at the golf course don't remember any other golfers playing the Kern Valley Golf Course making an albatross, but lots of almosts resulting in Eagle!

Anderson's double eagle was witnessed by friend Ed Schultz owner of the River Kern Store. The two local business owners play at the Kern Valley Golf Course as often as time permits.

For most golfers they are looking for par which is determined as the number of strokes from the tee box to the hole. A birdie is one shot under par for the hole and an eagle which is two strokes under par.
